The Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation is mandated to ensure the production and supply of quality seeds for various crop varieties, including those released by both state and central authorities. The corporation is responsible for producing foundation and certified seeds through individual farmers and also procuring green manure and soybean seeds for government schemes.
The major crops handled include paddy, Bengal gram, groundnut, and soybean, while other crops include hybrid maize, jowar, sesamum, and several vegetable crops.
As the sole public sector entity for this purpose, the corporation guarantees quality seed multiplication through proper certification processes. Seed production is conducted by approximately 5,700 farmers across 45,000 acres spread across various districts.
Additionally, the corporation undertakes the multiplication of newly released high-yielding varieties from PJTSAU and ICAR, integrating them into the seed chain to ensure timely availability to the farming community.
