Allegations have surfaced that under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, many non-eligible farmers received benefits, including payments for uncropped lands, buildings, and venture plots.
In response, the Telangana government plans to reform and rename the scheme as Rythu Bharosa, with a focus on providing benefits to genuine and needy farmers, including tenant cultivators.
Additionally, the government is contemplating an enhancement of the assistance amount from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per acre per annum for agricultural landholders and tenant farmers, and ₹12,000 per annum for agricultural labourers.
This transition aims to improve transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in delivering agrarian assistance.
To implement this effectively, a cabinet sub-committee has been formed to finalise guidelines under Rythu Bharosa.
