2022-23: Inland fish production was 4,24,327 tons, and freshwater prawn production reached 14,142 tons.
2023-24: Inland fish production increased by 58% to 4,39,513 tons, and freshwater prawn production grew by 16.90% to 16,532 tons.
Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs):
The state encourages the formation of FFPOs to boost income through value-added products.
Example: Taruni FFPO, a women-led group in Hyderabad with 250 members, is incubated in T-Hub.
Fish Market Development:
47 crore export-oriented wholesale fish market is under construction at Koheda, Hyderabad, to promote domestic and export fish sales.
Fishermen Insurance:
16 lakh fishermen are insured under the Group Accidental Insurance Scheme.
Coverage: 5.00 lakhs for accidental death or permanent disability, Rs. 2.50 lakhs for partial disability, and Rs. 0.25 lakhs for hospitalization due to accidents.
