Despite the lower levels of investment in irrigation, machinery, and infrastructure, agricultural production in Telangana was still comparable to other regions and states. For example, in 1966-67:
- Paddy Yield: Telangana’s average paddy yield was 1,305 kgs/hectare, close to Andhra’s 1,339 kgs/hectare, and better than regions like Punjab (1,188 kgs/hectare) and Assam (883 kgs/hectare).
- Jowar Yield: Telangana’s jowar yield was 460 kgs/hectare, slightly lower than Andhra’s 502 kgs/hectare but comparable to other states like Punjab (400 kgs/hectare).
- Sugarcane Yield: Telangana’s sugarcane yield was 8,305 kgs/hectare, again comparable to Andhra’s 7,974 kgs/hectare and other regions.
