The State of Telangana is actively improving maternal health care services for pregnant and lactating women through several innovative schemes and interventions. These include the MCH Kit, Nutrition Kit, Arogya Mahila, Team-Based Incentives (TBI), Birth Monitoring System (BMS), Targeted Imaging for Foetal Anomalies (TIFFA) Scans, Capacity Building of Health Care Providers, and the development of Maternal and Child Hospitals (MCHs).
MCH Kit
The MCH Kit Scheme is pivotal in enhancing maternal health indicators. Women who deliver in public healthcare facilities are incentivised through four direct bank transfers totaling Rs. 12,000 (or Rs. 13,000 for a girl child), linked to four key health milestones:

Two ANC checkups with a medical officer

Institutional delivery
-
3½ months immunisation of the child

Complete vaccination
Additionally, a kit with 14 essential items for mother and child is provided post-delivery. Till now, 14.95 lakh kits have been distributed.
Nutrition Kit
Launched on 21st December 2022 in 9 districts, and extended to all 33 districts from 14th June 2023, the Nutrition Kit Scheme aims to improve nutritional outcomes for mothers and children.

Kits are distributed twice:

Between 14–26 weeks

Each kit contains:
1 kg nutrition mix, ½ kg ghee, 1 kg dates, 3 bottles of iron syrup, 200 gms jaggery-peanut chikki, 1 cup, and 1 basket.
So far, 2.78 lakh kits have been distributed.
Arogya Mahila
The Arogya Mahila program addresses women’s unmet health needs and promotes health-seeking behavior.
