Irrigation Projects are classified on the basis of the irrigated area under the respective projects.
The irrigation projects in Telangana are classified into 3 groups namely:
Major Irrigation Projects:
These projects have the irrigation potential of more than 25000 acres (or> 10000 hectares). Eg: Nizam Sagar, Ali Sagar, Nagarjuna Sagar, Sriram Sagar.
Medium Irrigation Projects:
These projects have the irrigation potential of more than 5000 acres and less than 25000 acres (or 2000- 10000 hectares). Eg: Gaddenna- Suddavagu, Neelwai, Swarna, Gollavagu.
Minor Irrigation Projects:
These projects have the irrigation potential of less than 5000 acres (or <2000 hectares). Eg: Tanks
