Bhuvan
- Bhuvan (is a Sanskrit word, meaning Earth) is a Geoportal of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), hosted through URL https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in.
- It Provides services and applications related to satellite remote sensing data for public use. Bhuvan Services are offered by NRSC.
- Striving to realize the Indian Space Vision, is a key player in ISRO’s Earth Observation Programme and Disaster Management Support Programme.
- NRSC is responsible for the acquisition, processing, supply of aerial and Satellite remote sensing data and for continuously exploring the practical uses of remote sensing Technology for multi level (global to local) applications.
Bhuvan applications
- To support the decision making, monitoring and evaluation various sector specific applications are built in collaboration with partner organizations and ministries.
- Bhuvan has initiated many major applications with various ministries. For example, urban master plan formulation for Ministry of Urban through Bhuvan-NUIS portal, monitoring and evaluation portal Bhuvan-IWMP under the flagship program on Integrated Watershed Management Program (IWMP) etc.

Forestry Applications, joint effort of Forestry Departments and ISRO towards developing a geospatial query system resulting an enterprise image server (EIS) working as a virtual GIS laboratory providing organization wide access to spatial data including high resolution imagery and GIS tools with an emphasis on analysis, processing of spatial data. - Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act MGNREGA
- Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) aims at livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred days of wage-employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled labour work.
- The Mahatma Gandhi NREGA sponsors various schemes for helping rural people below the poverty-line for creation of wage employment and productive assets.
- The Mahatma Gandhi NREGA GIS Solution intends to provide a single and integrated view of asset information system pan rural India.
- GIS enabled portal (e-Governance) will act as a gateway to facilitate and coordinate the exchange and sharing of geospatial data between stakeholders from various jurisdictional levels in the spatial data community.
