Observing & Sensing the Universe
Because human beings cannot physically travel across the vast distances of deep space, our entire understanding of the universe relies on “messengers” that travel from distant stars and galaxies to reach Earth. For centuries, the only messenger we knew was visible light. Today, modern astronomy relies on three distinct types of cosmic messengers to sense the universe:
- Electromagnetic Radiation (Light)
- High-Energy Particles (Neutrinos and Cosmic Rays)
- Gravitational Waves (Ripples in Space-Time)
