The most cruel practice by the feudal landlords in Telangana was keeping young girls as slaves in their homes. When the landlords’ daughters got married, they would often send these slave girls, called “adapapa,” along with their daughters to serve them in their new homes. These girls were often treated as concubines by the landlords.
