1.Lack of transparency and due process:
The Telangana High Court criticized HYDRA for carrying out demolitions without proper notice or adherence to due process.
2. Aggressive approach:
Local politicians have argued that HYDRA’s aggressive approach disrupts ongoing developments and affects local businesses.
3. Selective targeting:
There have been allegations that HYDRA targets certain areas or groups, while ignoring others.
4. Impact on livelihoods:
The demolitions and eviction notices have raised concerns about the impact on the livelihoods of those affected, particularly low-income families and small business owners.
5. Overemphasis on demolition:

Naxalism in Telangana

Causes of Naxalism

1. Poverty and inequality :
The northern and eastern districts of Telangana are among the poorest in the state, with high levels of poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment.
2. Tribal discontent :
The tribal population in Telangana has long been marginalized and excluded from mainstream development. Naxalites have exploited this discontent to recruit tribal youth into their ranks.
3. Lack of governance :
In some areas, the absence of effective governance and administration has created a vacuum that Naxalites have filled.

History of Naxalism in Telangana

1. 1960s-1970s :
Naxalism first emerged in Telangana in the 1960s and 1970s, with the formation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
2.1980s-1990s :
The Naxalite movement gained momentum in the 1980s and 1990s, with the formation of the Communist Party of India (Maoist).

1.Decline in Naxalite Activity:

The number of violent incidents and deaths attributed to Naxalism has decreased significantly since 2014. According to the CRPF, the number of most affected districts has reduced from 35 in 2015 to 25 in 2021

2.Operation Octopus and Other Counter-Insurgency Operations:

The CRPF has launched several operations, including Operation Octopus, Operation Double Bull, Operation Thunderstorm, and Operation Chakarbandha, to combat Naxalism in Telangana and neighboring states.

3.Development Initiatives:

The Telangana government has introduced various development schemes, such as the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people in Naxal-affected areas.
