Telangana Canada Association (TCA)

Telanganites in Canada, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), played a significant role in supporting the Telangana movement.

• Support for Telangana Movement:

  • Provided financial assistance for key events such as Million March, Sagara Haram, and Sakala Janula Samme.
  • Distributed essential supplies to employees participating in protests.
  • Collaborated with U.S. counterparts to produce the documentary Promises, Betrayal and Repression: The Saga of Telangana, spreading awareness globally.
  • Supported the families of martyrs and actively participated in both local and international dharnas.
  • Engaged in extensive conference calls with leaders in Telangana and across India to garner support for statehood.

• Awareness Activities:

  • Conducted brainstorming sessions and cultural events to bring together Telanganites in Canada.
  • Organized traditional celebrations like Bathukamma and Bonalu to preserve Telangana’s cultural heritage abroad.

• Organizational Formation:
  Two major organizations were established to promote Telangana identity and support various causes:

  1. Telangana Canada Association (TCA)
     • Key Members: Ramesh Munukuntla, Chandra Swargam, and others.
