National Parks
- National parks are special areas set aside to protect the natural environment. They not only conserve landscapes, plants, and animals in their original form but also provide spaces for people to enjoy and learn about nature through recreational and educational activities.
- There are 106 existing national parks in India covering an area of 44,402.95 km2, which is 1.35% of the geographical area of the country (National Wildlife Database Centre, Nov. 2023). In addition to the above 75 National Parks covering an area of 16,608 km2 are proposed in the Protected Area Network Report
