National Measures
Legal Provisions:
India has enacted several laws that contribute to managing invasive species. Key among them is the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, which empowers authorities to regulate access to biological resources and prevent the spread of harmful alien species.
National Biodiversity Authority (NBA):
Established under the Biological Diversity Act, the NBA plays a key role in coordinating national efforts, advising the government on threats posed by IAS, and enforcing compliance with biodiversity laws.

National Action Plan on Invasive Alien Species (NAPINVAS):
Launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), this plan emphasizes prevention, early detection, rapid response, containment, and long-term management of invasive species in various ecosystems.
National Invasive Species Information Center (NISIC):
This center provides a centralized information hub on invasive species in India, including identification tools, management guidelines, and policy updates.
Research and Field Interventions:
Institutions such as the Himalayan Environmental Foundation work on-ground to control invasive plants like Lantana camara in fragile mountain ecosystems. Similarly, the Centre for Wildlife Studies conducts research on the ecological impact of invasive species across Indian forests and grasslands.
