Nano DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate)
Following the success of Nano Urea, Nano DAP was developed as a liquid nano-fertilizer to improve the absorption of both nitrogen and phosphorus.
- Development: It was also launched by IFFCO in 2023.
- Composition: Nano DAP contains 8% Nitrogen and 16% Phosphorus by volume.
- How it Works: Unlike conventional DAP, which comes in hard, granular pellets, Nano DAP is a liquid. Because its particles are entirely nano-sized (less than 100 nm), it possesses a very high surface area-to-volume ratio. This makes it significantly more effective at entering the plant system than traditional solid fertilizers.
Comparison: Nano DAP vs. Conventional DAP
To understand the leap in technology, we can compare the modern Nano DAP with the traditional Conventional DAP used by farmers for decades:
Feature | Nano DAP | Conventional DAP |
Physical Form | Liquid | Granular (Solid Pellets) |
Nitrogen Content | 8% | 18% |
Phosphorus Content | 16% | 46% |
Efficiency | High (Nano-sized particles allow for near-total absorption) | Less efficient (Much of it is washed away or locked in the soil) |
Method of Application | Foliar spray (sprayed on leaves) and seed treatment | Soil application (mixed into the dirt) |
Environmental Impact | Eco-friendly (Drastically reduces soil, water, and air pollution) | Higher environmental footprint due to chemical runoff |
Cost-Effectiveness & Storage | Just 500 ml of Nano DAP can replace an entire 50 kg bag of conventional DAP | Requires purchasing, transporting, and storing huge quantities |
