The Ma Telangana newspaper was launched on 13th August 1989 by the Telangana Information Trust. The inauguration event took place at Basant Talkies, Kachiguda, under the chairmanship of Keshav Rao Jadhav. The chief guest for the event was Justice Konda Madhav Reddy. Several prominent personalities attended the event, including Kaloji Narayana Rao, Prof. Jayashankar, Prof. Anand Rao Thota, Prof. Madhusudhan Reddy, and P. Yashoda Devi.

The Telangana Information Trust also published a book titled Perspectives on Telangana, which documented the exploitation of Telangana in the electricity and irrigation sectors. This book played a crucial role in raising awareness about the economic and political injustices faced by the region.

The Ma Telangana newspaper published several special editions to highlight key political and social developments. Three significant special editions were released: in 1989, covering the Kalvakurthi elections, where N.T. Rama Rao (N.T.R.) contested; in 1997, coinciding with the revival of the Telangana movement; and in 2001, marking the formation of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (T.R.S.). These special editions played a role in shaping public opinion and strengthening the demand for a separate Telangana state.

One of the most notable impacts of Ma Telangana was during the 1989 Kalvakurthi elections, where N.T. Rama Rao (N.T.R.) contested but was defeated. The newspaper’s special edition highlighting Telangana’s issues was considered one of the factors that contributed to his loss in the elections.

The literature published by the Telangana Information Trust also had a significant influence on student activism. In 1990–91, inspired by these publications, students at Osmania University formed student organizations to support the Telangana cause. Two major student groups emerged during this time: the Telangana Students Front and the Telangana Liberation Students Organization. These organizations played a key role in mobilizing students for the Telangana movement.

The Ma Telangana newspaper, along with the publications of the Telangana Information Trust, served as an important medium for spreading awareness about the injustices faced by Telangana. It contributed to the political awakening of the people and played a crucial role in the Telangana movement
