- Distribution in India:Introduced as an ornamental plant, it now invades over 40% of India’s tiger range, especially in the Shivalik Hills, Central India, and Southern Western Ghats. It spreads across roadsides, forests, and farmlands.
- Remarks: It is among the world’s worst invasive species, harming native biodiversity and causing toxicity in animals and humans. Despite its negative impact, its wood is used for furniture and handicrafts, creating livelihood opportunities for tribal communities.
