- Manikyeshwar Nagar, adjacent to Osmania University, provided shelter to students expelled from the campus during KCR’s hunger strike in December 2009.
- On December 8, 2009, police attacked houses, threw away food prepared for students, and brutally beat locals, including women and elderly residents.
- The residents resisted:
- Women countered a police announcement offering a reward of Rs. 200 for handing over students by offering Rs. 1,000 to police to vacate the area.
- Intervention by Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy led to police withdrawal.
- Shoban Reddy played a key role in supporting students.

- Osmania University students led a rally in response to BJP’s “Assembly Seize” call.
- Police used tear gas, injuring many students from Nizam College, Saifabad College, and P.G. College.
September 7, 2013
- Osmania University and Nizam College students attempted to obstruct the “Save Andhra Pradesh” meeting organized by NGOs.
- Police resorted to lathi charge, but a police constable raised a “Jai Telangana” slogan during the clash.
December 16, 2013
- Students organized a “Seize Raj Bhavan” protest demanding an unconditional Telangana State.
January 7, 2014
- Students conducted an “Assembly Seize” protest against discussions opposing the Telangana Bill.
