The representatives of the mercantile community of Hyderabad and Secunderabad made representations to the Nizam Government to restore law and order and stated that if the Government failed to take firm and decisive action, they might be forced to close down their businesses.
Many lawyers in Hyderabad State boycotted the courts as an act of protest against the misdeeds of the Razakars. In April 1948, a Pleader’s Protest Committee was constituted to draw the attention of the Government to the grievances of the public, with Vinayak Rao Vidyalankar as the Chairman.
After that, there were Muslims who were unhappy with the course of events, who believed that what was happening was wrong, whose hearts sympathized with the victims of loot, arson, and rape committed by the Razakars, and who felt that all this should stop.
They came from politics, services, and journalism. They witnessed the vandalism of the Razakars and attempted to help the victims.
