- The Balika Samridhi Yojana is akin to the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, offering limited savings opportunities specifically for parents of girl children.
- It is applicable only for newborn infants.
- Upon the birth of a girl child, Rs. 500 is provided.
- During her school years, the girl child receives an annual scholarship ranging from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 until she completes Grade X.
- Enrollment is open until the child reaches 10 years of age.
- Each household can participate in the scheme for up to two daughters.
- The depositor must belong to a family classified as ‘Below Poverty Line’.
- Accounts can be opened at designated banks, with only certain banks authorized to facilitate the application process for this program.
